Because Human Complexity Deserves More Than Ready-Made Answers
A Practice Shaped by Experience
Trained as a lawyer, I have worked for over 20 years as an impartial third party in conflict prevention and resolution, in contexts where legal frameworks alone provide limited responses to human and organizational realities.
My career began within an international organization working in armed conflict settings, guided by the principles of impartiality, neutrality and independence. There, I developed a deep understanding of the power dynamics at play in political conflicts, the unwritten norms that must be applied to reach fair and respectful outcomes, and the central role of dialogue in equitable negotiation.
These experiences continue to shape my understanding of justice.
Upon returning to Quebec, I continued this work in contexts involving individuals and groups made vulnerable, often by unequal power dynamics or significant violations of their rights. It was during this time that I first encountered restorative justice practices in cases of sexual violence.
In 2014, I completed advanced training in conflict prevention and resolution to further deepen and structure this practice.
Bringing together these experiences and this training brought into focus the limits of certain organizational approaches I had observed. It also confirmed the value of developing an approach centred on fairness, recognition and the quality of processes. In 2015, I developed a private Ombuds service, providing small organizations with structured interventions designed to foster a sense of justice while preserving relationships.
Since 2018, I have developed specialized expertise in investigations related to sexual violence. Drawing on research on sexual ethics and the quality of consent, my approach supports nuanced, rigorous and restorative interventions that are attentive to both the individuals involved and the dynamics of broader organizations and communities.
Through the Under the Covers project, I aim to share this expertise with organizations seeking to develop a more nuanced and expansive understanding of intimate and sexual relationships.

A Rare and Rigorous Expertise; A Human Approach
The expertise I bring to organizations and communities has been developed in contexts where people’s dignity was compromised and where formal legal frameworks offered limited tools to restore fairness and a sense of justice.
By placing fairness and a sense of justice at the centre of interventions, this approach allows for sound and thoughtful action where the usual reference points fall short. It allows us to identify and leverage the unwritten norms that shape relationships, influence behaviour and structure organizational dynamics.
Over time, I have developed language and frameworks that make these norms actionable, translating them into coherent, context-sensitive interventions that respect individuals’ capacities as well as their dignity, autonomy and judgment.
Philosophy
Some of the greatest influences on my work have been individuals with little or no formal education, yet whose presence and perspective reflected remarkable clarity and insight.
These encounters shaped my lasting conviction that every person holds the capacity for understanding and discernment, even when they themselves do not recognize this capacity.
My work is grounded in this belief. It aims to create conditions where individuals can recognize and mobilize their own capacity for judgment, while carefully addressing what interferes with dialogue and a sense of justice.
This approach engages with respect, acknowledging vulnerability, dignity and pride in each person encountered.
